Watermark Wagga Wagga Stage 4

The weather has been a bit unpredictable for the  beginning of the stage 4 landscape construction at Watermark in Wagga Wagga. Thankfully the sun has been shining for the past week and the boys from Aspect Irrigation & Landscaping have been hard at it preparing the landscape for the opening in mid October. The new area includes seating, planter boxes, a water feature and large shade trees with decorative grates. Additions to earlier stages include a chess court and a bocce court, Kelly is doing a fabulous job, taking the reins while Alex is on holidays. 

"Drawing from the Imagination" with Andrew Antoniou

What a great weekend we had with the fabulous Andrew Antoniou. A fun filled workshop working with charcoal to create our own imaginative compositions. With the influence of music, text and poetry as starting points, students were able to create outstanding black and white drawings by gaining a greater understanding of line and tone by the teaching of Andrew over the weekend. Lost of mess and some bubbles at the end of the workshop!

Drawing from the Imagination with Andrew Antoniou

Maximise your creative potential by drawing on the wealth of your imagination and memory. In this weekend workshop Andrew will take you through a natural process of visualisation exercises to create your own imaginative compositions. Working with charcoal we will also be developing technical skills in the class that will enhance your imagery through a greater understanding of line and tone study.

Andrew demonstrates ways to look inwards for a more personal imagery, through exercises using poetry, text, music and song as starting points, culminating in outstanding and unique black and white drawings – an engaging and very rewarding adventure.

Andrew Antoniou is a practicing artist represented by Australian Galleries in Sydney and Melbourne. He has over 35 years teaching experience in art schools and universities in Australia, the UK and the USA. He has been a finalist in many of the major drawing prizes in Australia, including being a seven times finalist in the Dobell as well as the Adelaide Perry, Jacaranda and Hutchins Drawing Prize. He has recently been awarded the Australian Print Council Commission and has had work purchased for the Kedumba Drawing Collection in 2013.

Cost: $350 gst included 
Fee includes tutoring for two days, workshop materials, morning/afternoon tea, lunch catered for by Mates Gully, wine & cheese on Saturday night.

Pop Up Shop

Our pop up shop Somewhere Else is opening for December in our Wagga office. We will be selling art works from the Annabel Wallace gallery, as well as sculptural pieces by Hayley Crossing and abstract works by Elizabeth Knight, outdoor furniture, terrariums and much more. Come and see us!

Gundagai Street Tree Strategy

Kelly has been working diligently at creating a streetscape strategy for Gundagai. Such a plan will define the character of Gundagai for the next century. A really rewarding project to be involved in. 

Kelly Park

Kelly has recently finished the masterplan for Kelly Park (she had to do it!). Destined to be the greatest tennis centre in regional Australia. 

Coota Preschool

Bridget is working on a fabulous design at Cootamundra Preschool upgrade which includes a deck, a dry water course, chalk boards and veggie gardens. Jeremy Pearce from Arcscape will be on the tools come September weaving his magic to bring the plan to life.

Lockhart MPS

Bridget has recently finished plans for the new Health Facility for Lockhart. We eagerly await the start of construction.  

Wagga Wagga Office

The Wagga Office opened as of the 1st March. We are so excited to have a presence in Wagga Wagga and to be sharing our digs with the team at Salvestro Planning.  Olivia Turner was there until May and is now on maternity leave.  Olivia will be back to Wagga Wagga one day a month from September and is taking bookings for gardens on those days.  Rachel Tokley is back and is now in the Wagga office from Monday to Wednesday with Alex there one day a week.  Please drop in and see us if you are in Wagga Wagga.

Pioneer Park

We are thrilled to note that we are working with the amazing Prue Walsh from Play Environment Consulting for the regional playground for Pioneer Park in Tumut.  Great site, beautiful old trees, fairies everywhere, water and level changes= FUN. 

Speaking Appearances

We are often asked to participate in events happening around the country. Alex Dalglish and Emma Baldry will be a speakers at The Open Garden Scheme in Wagga in 2011. Alex will also be speaking at two regional events in Quandialla and  Cootamundra early in 2011. Watch this space for more details! 

Charles Sturt University Childcare Centres

One of our current projects is the CSU Early Learning Centres at the Wagga Wagga and Thurgoona campuses. In consultation with NBRSP architects and CSU staff, the plan for the two new childcare centres are now complete and ready to go. We look forward to seeing the designs come to fruition in the new year. 

Inside Outside: Take 2

Following the success of Inside Outside at the Annabel Wallace Gallery, Murringo in 2009, the team of Alex Dalglish, Hayley Crossing, Annabel Wallace and Emma Baldry are readying themselves for the next chapter of this intriguing experiment to create a landscape in an unlikely place. Recently Alex was the guest speaker at the Sacred Heart School Cootamundra, where she floated the idea of Coota being the home of the next adventure; everyone seemed very supportive and many offers of settings were offered. Watch this space for more details as it unfolds! Style Magazine will be including news of the event in their Winter 2011 edition. Living Magazine

We are always pleased when we get featured online or in a magazine. Somewhere will be featured in Living Magazine's February edition for 2011. Be sure to pick up a copy to hear about where Somewhere is growing.

Somewhere Rocky

We are nearly there with a great garden which features many beautiful rock walls by the incredibly talented (and patient) stone mason Jason Simpson. Landscape by Andrew Stanley of Gardenscape, irrigation by Phil Braddon of Young Pop ups and lighting by Gardens at Night. We will post photos as it is finished, but just so you can see Jason's work in the making.

Somewhere on a River

It's always gratifying to see a design from the air as we spend so much time considering the spaces in plan. These are recent flooding photos of a garden we finished about 6 years ago which always had great water views.
