HOW WE WORK

Our

Process.

Every garden begins with a conversation. From that first site visit through to the final detail drawing, we move through a considered sequence of stages. Each stage building on the last, always shaped by your brief and the particular character of your place.

01

Site Visit

We begin with an initial site visit to understand the context and hear your dreams for the garden. We'll dig into the soil, take note of existing trees and level changes, and discuss how you use and want to use the space. Where possible, we prefer to work from a site survey for accuracy, though an aerial photo and basic measurements can serve as a base if needed.

02

Concept Plan

The concept plan is the starting point for the design: a direct response to your brief that begins to test the possibilities of your site. It maps the spatial relationships between proposed materials and elements, and is accompanied by supporting imagery and a plant palette. Sketches, sections, or photomontages may also be included.

03

Master Plan

Built on your feedback from the concept, the masterplan is a resolved and refined version of the design. At this stage we finalise all spatial decisions before moving into documentation. This is often a natural holdpoint in the design process.

04

Documentation

Documentation provides the level of detail needed to construct your garden. The package can be tailored for a contractor or for a confident home owner taking on the work themselves. It typically includes:

  • For existing gardens: notes on plant retention and removal, demolition, earthworks, and any plumbing or electrical work required for irrigation and lighting.

  • Confirms every material in the garden, covering hard and soft landscape. Includes installation guidance and recommended preparation for planting beds and tree planting.

  • Sets out the location of each plant species and the quantities required, accompanied by a full Plant Schedule covering species, stock size, and spacing.

  • Additional construction information on how to build and install specific elements within the garden.

05

Maintenance Document

An optional but recommended addition. It is a detailed guide to caring for your garden through the seasons. Includes seasonal task schedules and species-specific maintenance notes to help the garden thrive long after we hand it over.
